  1. Instant Layouts Guide

  3. Instant Layouts are page layouts created by Clipper designers using 
  4. art from each issue.  All instant Layouts appear in Clipper magazine, 
  5. and are indexed by a number each month.  Instant Layouts are also 
  6. indexed in the Ulead Browser albums each month.

  8. Instant Layouts are saved in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.  
  9. Illustrator files are saved with a version 3.0 compatibility; 
  10. Photoshop files are saved as black-and-white images with white as 
  11. transparent, with paths, grayscale and two color.  All type has been 
  12. converted to curves, and all body copy removed from the layout files 
  13. so that you can add your custom type more quickly.  Some layouts 
  14. include art from other Dynamic Graphics art and idea services, 
  15. including DesignerÆs Club and Print Media Service, as noted at the 
  16. bottom of the layouts in Clipper magazine.  This note should be 
  17. cropped if you placed the Instant Layout in a page layout application.

  19. The Instant Layouts files have been numbered consecutively.  The 
  20. letter "Y" included in an image number (for example "001Y.EPS") 
  21. indicate this image is an Instant Layout.  Some of the layouts have 
  22. supporting images in the Layouts folder.  These images are Photoshop 
  23. files that have the same image number as the Illustrator layout with a 
  24. dash and alpha character (for example "001Y_A.EPS").  There can be 
  25. more than one supporting image in a layout, which will be denoted by 
  26. an alpha character incremented in alphabetical order.  The supporting 
  27. images can be edited in Photoshop; the layouts with supporting images 
  28. can be edited in Adobe Illustrator.  If you are sending these layouts 
  29. to a service bureau for output, the supporting art files will need to 
  30. accompany them.  The layouts that do not have supporting images can be 
  31. edited with a PostScript Draw program.  You need a PostScript printer 
  32. or interpreter in order to print the Instant layouts properly.
