Instant Layouts Guide
Instant Layouts are page layouts created by Clipper designers using
art from each issue. All instant Layouts appear in Clipper magazine,
and are indexed by a number each month. Instant Layouts are also
indexed in the Ulead Browser albums each month.
Instant Layouts are saved in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
Illustrator files are saved with a version 3.0 compatibility;
Photoshop files are saved as black-and-white images with white as
transparent, with paths, grayscale and two color. All type has been
converted to curves, and all body copy removed from the layout files
so that you can add your custom type more quickly. Some layouts
include art from other Dynamic Graphics art and idea services,
including DesignerÆs Club and Print Media Service, as noted at the
bottom of the layouts in Clipper magazine. This note should be
cropped if you placed the Instant Layout in a page layout application.
The Instant Layouts files have been numbered consecutively. The
letter "Y" included in an image number (for example "001Y.EPS")
indicate this image is an Instant Layout. Some of the layouts have
supporting images in the Layouts folder. These images are Photoshop
files that have the same image number as the Illustrator layout with a
dash and alpha character (for example "001Y_A.EPS"). There can be
more than one supporting image in a layout, which will be denoted by
an alpha character incremented in alphabetical order. The supporting
images can be edited in Photoshop; the layouts with supporting images
can be edited in Adobe Illustrator. If you are sending these layouts
to a service bureau for output, the supporting art files will need to
accompany them. The layouts that do not have supporting images can be
edited with a PostScript Draw program. You need a PostScript printer
or interpreter in order to print the Instant layouts properly.
